Design is
a process of
empathetic
problem
solving

Experience:

I have managed small and medium sized teams but I have always remained close to the work and am a hands-on creative. Presentation is a valuable skill and I am confident and experienced presenting creative work both in-house and for clients.

I have worked beneath several titles: Creative Lead, Creative Director, ACD, and Art Director but whether I am managing a team or a project or working beneath another’s creative guidance, at the core of everything I am a designer. My fearlessness to take on problems as they come is one of my strengths and has afforded me opportunities to tackle many different types of creative challenges. Below is a list of work that I both have a knack for and enjoy doing.

Creative Strategy
Concept Development
Advertising and Marketing
Branding and Brand Development
Visual Design / UX
Typography
Retouching
Digital Illustration
Iconography
Infographics
Packaging
Print and Print Production
Trade Show and Popup Events
Direct Mail
Storyboarding

What I do:

I help organizations communicate better through design. I believe in empathy and investing the time it takes to understand the problem and barriers that my audience needs to clear. Through understanding we can arrive at design solutions and successful business.

How I do it:

Communication and iteration are my best friends. I’m smart and love to figure things out but the talent and hard work of a dedicated team is what lifts projects from good to great. The goal of the design process is to arrive at objective brilliance, which comes from a lot of subjective versioning. Iteration and the willingness to be wrong is what lead to successful solutions.

Who I do it with:

Most recently my role tends to fall into a couple of arenas. Either I’m acting as the creative lead for smaller agencies and startups, where I tend to be a Swiss army knife of brand design (see a list of some of my skills in the experience section). Or I’m brought in to help larger creative agencies to concept and design advertising/marketing campaign platforms. I am proficient at cracking a creative brief and bringing delightful, on-strategy ideas to life.

Why I do it:

I experience joy through design. Being a designer means that I seek efficiency, exactness and aesthetics and that I strive to improve human experience. When I interact with things others have created dutifully with success I am always thankful. I strive to give that experience to others and I feel fulfilled when my job is done well.

Hit me if you’d like to chat:

I am actively seeking a staff position where I can play a meaningful role within a close-knit team. Job titles are less important to me than having the opportunity to work with smart people who are passionate about what they are building.
